See y'all next week.
“A Roma, sepultada en sus ruinas.”

Oooh, I'm still feeling drained from 4x13 "Journey's End". (Don't worry, I won't be spoilery up here, though I can't promise that the comments will remain spoiler-free.) Entertainment-wise, I both liked and hated it. Film-maker's perspective, I both liked and hated it. I've only skimmed a few reviews before I decided that, as per usual, I disagree with the major opinion and it's just not worth going through all the bitching. (Funny that, isn't it? I love making friends in the fandom, but I can't stand 99% of Who-verse fandom itself.) Suffice it to say I have that sort of gaping hole-in-the-gut weariness that you feel after instigating a particularly nasty break-up. I definitely know that I liked it a million times more than "Last of the Time Lords". That's about as articulate as I can manage for the moment.
At the very least, I'm glad that the enigma around whatever happened to Ace wasn't resolved, like I'd seen hinted at from a few sources. I really admire RTD, even when he's being horrible to the characters; far better to be cruel to give a stronger motive than to coddle them and eliminate any hope of entertainment beyond fluffiness. I know it's really hard for a lot of writers to be willing to sacrifice their characters to terrible events, so I admire him for having the cajones to do it, even if it kills the audience to see it. But back to Ace, given RTD's patterns for female characters... I don't think Ace would've gotten a fair exit. I don't know Moffat's view on past companions (although I thought I'd read that he detested Seven), but having Ace's resolution in his hands is a far more comforting thought. Good gods, I hope we eventually get some sort of answer. Even just a throwaway line.
Oi, it's gonna be a long wait until the Children in Need and Christmas specials, isn't it? I'm wondering if it's time to clean out my drabble & ficlets folder and post some of the stuff that's been sitting on my harddrive forever. They're not all that great IMO, but at least I can spell. I think. Um... beta safe than sorry? *facepalm*
